Your last chance to witness and take photos with this current version of the iconic Glico Running Man is 30th November 2026.

This temporary closure is taking place to usher in a fresh new era for Osaka’s proud landmark. The sign currently standing is the sixth generation—first unveiled to the public in 2014—and has been operating for 13 years, meaning its LED lights are finally starting to lose their brilliance.

What Will the New Design Look Like?

The operators plan to replace the current board with a brand-new iteration boasting far more advanced LED technology. While the exact design details remain under wraps, the figure of the running man is guaranteed to remain as the primary mascot. This running figure has served as an enduring icon ever since the very first Glico sign appeared back in 1943.

For those curious to see its new transformation, this seventh-generation Glico billboard is scheduled to officially welcome travellers once again in spring 2027.
