The crimson red leaves of maple trees are the main attraction for autumn enthusiasts. Here's a look at the predicted peak viewing times across different regions:
Northern Japan is the first to welcome autumn, with colors starting to change in October. The peak viewing time in Sapporo is expected to be in early November 2025.
The autumn front then moves toward the central regions. In Sendai, Tohoku, the peak is predicted for late November 2025, which is also the case for some parts of the upper Chubu region like Niigata and Toyama.
In the Kanto area, autumn is expected to begin in mid-November. Tokyo itself is predicted to reach its peak in late November, just a few days after Sendai. Other areas in Kansai (Kyoto), Chugoku (Hiroshima), and parts of Chubu are also expected to have their peak around the same time.
While some areas of Chubu and Kansai are expected to start their autumn season in mid-November, the peak in cities like Nagoya and Osaka will arrive later than in Tokyo. The leaves in both Nagoya, Chubu, and Osaka, Kansai will turn red in early December.
The last region to experience autumn in Japan is the southern area, including Fukuoka and Okinawa. Here, the season is expected to start in late November and reach its peak in early December.

Just as captivating as the red maples, the brilliant yellow leaves of ginkgo trees are another highlight of autumn. Their vibrant color often marks the beginning of the season in major cities. Here's the peak forecast for ginkgo leaves:
Similar to the red leaves, the northern regions will reach their peak first. In Sapporo, you should visit in early November to see the yellow leaves at their best.
Sendai, Tokyo, and Osaka
These cities are predicted to reach their peak in late November, not far behind Sapporo. Other areas in Kansai, parts of Kanto, and Chubu are expected to follow a similar timeline.
Despite being in the south of Japan, Fukuoka's peak ginkgo season is predicted to be in late November, just like Tokyo.
Although located in the Chubu region, which is predicted to peak at a similar time to Kanto, the ginkgo leaves around Nagoya are expected to turn yellow earlier, reaching their peak in mid-November.

With major cities becoming increasingly Muslim-friendly, you can focus on your spiritual journey without worrying about finding halal food or a place to pray.
