Sapa is a small, cool town in the Lao Cai Province, famous for its breathtaking natural scenery. Here, you'll find cascading rice terraces, the majestic peak of Mount Fansipan, and the rich culture of the local ethnic communities. Sapa is not just a place for photos; it's a perfect destination for ultimate healing and mental rejuvenation. Here is a relaxed, 3-day Muslim-friendly itinerary to help you make the most of your trip.
Since Sapa is a small town located in the highlands, there are no direct international flights. To get here from most countries, you'll need to fly into Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi. From there, your journey continues with a sleeper bus to Sapa. You can book your sleeper bus ticket online through platforms like Klook. Bus services like HK Busline offer pick-up from either the airport or Hanoi's Old Quarter. If you prefer to save money, it's best to be picked up at the airport and wait in the lounge. However, if you're eager to try Hanoi's famous late-night food and coffee, you can take local bus number 86 to the Old Quarter first. The journey from Hanoi to Sapa takes about 6 hours.
Upon arriving in Sapa in the morning, we recommend heading straight to your hotel for an early check-in or to simply drop off your luggage. Don't forget to grab some breakfast to fuel up for the day. For Muslim travelers, a great option is Sapa Halal Restaurant, located not far from the town center, where you can try authentic beef pho.
Your first destination is Cat Cat Village, an ethnic village that combines beautiful nature with authentic cultural charm. The village is about 3 km from the town center, but since the roads are steep, it's better to hire a motorbike taxi to save energy. The cost is around 40,000-50,000 VND for a one-way trip. The entrance fee is 150,000 VND, and you can freely explore. The favorite spot here is the stunning waterfall. A good tip is to ask the motorbike driver to drop you off at the entrance closest to the waterfall to avoid a long walk down the stairs. You can also rent traditional Sapa clothing inside the village for around 100,000 VND.
After enjoying Cat Cat Village, continue your journey to downtown Sapa to admire the charming Sapa Lake. It's best to visit in the morning or late afternoon when the weather isn't too hot. You can simply relax in the flower-filled park and take photos around the lake. If you want a break at a cafe, Cong Caphe, located nearby, is the perfect choice to try their famous coconut coffee.
After a full day of exploring, it's time to head back to Phuong Nam Hotel for some rest. This hotel boasts a strategic location in Sapa, surrounded by various restaurants, cafes, and close to major tourist attractions. It also provides luggage storage if you arrive before check-in time. A great feature of this hotel is its beautiful views; some rooms have private balconies overlooking the magnificent Sapa landscape. You can also enjoy the rooftop jacuzzi for an additional 250,000 VND, giving you 45 minutes of warm relaxation with a spectacular view of the mountains.
Day two is the most anticipated day, as you will head to Fansipan, the highest peak in Indochina. There are three modes of transport to get to the summit. First, take the Muong Hoa Monorail from Sun Plaza. Then, you'll continue with a cable car, which is said to be one of the longest in the world. From the cable car, you'll hike a few stairs to Do Quyen Station to board the Fansipan Peak Rail to the summit. Along the way, you'll pass the highest Buddha temple in Vietnam and a magnificent Buddha statue. We recommend booking your tickets for all three transports online through Klook, including a round-trip ticket to save time and avoid long queues. The entire journey to Fansipan and back to Sapa town typically takes about 3 hours.
After the tiring trip to Fansipan, you can take a break at Viettrekking Coffee. This cafe is very popular for its beautiful view of the monorail passing through Sapa's stunning landscape. It's less than 1 km from Sun Plaza, so you can easily walk there. Coffee prices start from 65,000 VND.
After a full day of adventure, nothing is better than relaxing at your hotel. If you're staying at Phuong Nam Hotel, you can enjoy the rooftop jacuzzi with its beautiful view of Sapa. In the evening, you can walk to the Sapa Night Market to hunt for local culinary delights. Try the warm roasted chestnut and a type of cake filled with chestnut, which are perfect for Sapa's cool weather.
On your last day, before leaving, take some time to walk around Sapa Center. Visit iconic spots like Sun Plaza, the stone church, and the flower-filled parks.
For breakfast, stop by White Cloud Cafe & Restaurant, which is not far from the town center. This cafe offers beautiful views and a diverse brunch menu. As a Muslim traveler, make sure to ask and confirm that your order is made with beef or chicken, as they also have pork options.
Although it's hard to leave this beautiful and serene town, it's time to head back to Hanoi. You can take the same sleeper bus you arrived on. You can even request a free pick-up service from your hotel. The bus fare is quite affordable, and you can book it through the Klook app.
