Not just Boracay...
If you’re looking to explore new spots across the Causeway, there’s one more destination to keep on your radar. Horizon Mall, a new 150,000 square foot lifestyle and shopping mall, is set to open in Horizon Hills, Iskandar Puteri by the end of 2026.
Rather than another air-conditioned mega mall in Johor Bahru (JB), this one brings something different to the table — and it’s set to appeal to everyone from local families to Muslim travellers looking for relaxed, halal-friendly spaces.
Built as an open-air mall, Horizon Mall is designed with greenery, natural light, and outdoor walkways. It draws inspiration from places like The LINC in KL and Elmina Lakeside Mall in Shah Alam, blending lifestyle and leisure in one walkable space. Most shops will still be fully air-conditioned, so visitors can enjoy the outdoors without giving up comfort.
Confirmed tenants so far include:
Village Grocer
CHAGEE
Padi House
ChaTraMue
Jungle Gym (an indoor playground for kids)
Starbucks (with a drive-thru outlet)
While the full F&B list hasn’t been released, several confirmed tenants such as Padi House and ChaTraMue have previously offered halal-certified or Muslim-friendly options at their other outlets. This makes Horizon Mall a promising stop for Muslim visitors looking for convenient halal meals in a scenic and modern environment.
Additionally, the presence of Village Grocer is good news for those seeking halal-certified grocery items or snacks to bring home.
While specific prayer facilities within the mall have yet to be announced, it’s expected that Horizon Mall will include a surau or prayer room in line with most new developments in Johor.
Plus, the surrounding Iskandar Puteri area is home to several mosques and suraus, including:
Masjid Kota Iskandar, located about 10 minutes away
Masjid An-Nur Eco Botanic, a beautifully designed mosque near Eco Botanic township
Masjid Taman Bukit Indah, for those coming from the Bukit Indah area
These options make it easy for Muslim travellers to plan their prayer times while enjoying their visit.
Easily accessible via the Second Link — ideal for weekend trips from Singapore
Located about 1 hour and 20 minutes from the Causeway, Horizon Mall is well connected through the Malaysia–Singapore Second Link. This makes it a convenient spot for day-trippers or short weekend trips from Singapore, especially for Muslim families who prefer to avoid the weekend bustle at malls like KSL or Mid Valley Southkey.
The mall is also just a short drive from family favourites like LEGOLAND Malaysia (which has halal food options inside) and the Horizon Hills Championship Golf Course.
It’s easy to feel like every new mall in JB is more of the same. Horizon Mall stands out because it’s not just a place to shop — it’s part of a larger vision by Gamuda Land to create integrated, walkable townships where errands, leisure, and nature blend together.
With its open-air design, greenery, and focus on community spaces, Horizon Mall offers Muslim visitors a calmer alternative to the usual JB scene. Whether you're running errands, meeting friends over a halal brunch, or taking the kids out to play, this space encourages a slower pace of life — one that’s inclusive and welcoming for all.
Horizon Mall is expected to open by late 2026, with a curated tenant mix ranging from food and retail to wellness and education. It is also closely tied to Horizon Square, a nearby commercial hub that has already been fully sold out.
More than just another shopping mall, Horizon Mall reflects a shift in how modern townships are planned — prioritising walkability, greenery, and daily convenience, all while being family-friendly and Muslim-friendly.
Whether you live in JB or are planning your next quick getaway from Singapore, Horizon Mall is definitely one to watch.
