The "crown jewel" of Planetarium Jakarta is undoubtedly the Star Theater (Teater Bintang). Inside this massive dome, you are invited to lean back in reclining seats and gaze up at a ceiling that transforms into a giant screen.

Using a state-of-the-art projector, the theater simulates the night sky with breathtaking precision. You will witness constellations, distant planets, and realistic solar eclipses so vivid you'll feel as though you've been transported into deep space. Throughout the 45-minute show, a narrator guides you through the galaxy with an engaging and easy-to-follow story, making the vastness of the universe feel intimate and awe-inspiring.

Muslim-Friendly Facilities: Prayer Rooms Nearby

As a destination for global Muslim travelers, you’ll be pleased to know that Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), where the Planetarium is located, is very well-equipped.

  • Jami' Amir Hamzah Mosque: Located right within the TIM complex, this mosque is an architectural gem—modern, spacious, and very comfortable for daily prayers.

  • Musholla: Additionally, most buildings within the complex, including the library and gallery areas, have clean and accessible prayer rooms (musholla) with dedicated wudhu facilities.

Ticketing: Prices and How to Buy

Until April 2026, students with a valid Student ID Card can enter for free. For adults and children without a student card, the ticket price is incredibly affordable at just IDR 10,000 per person. You can secure your tickets through two methods:

Online Booking

  • Tickets are available via Loket.com.

  • General category accounts can purchase up to 5 tickets per transaction, while Student accounts are limited to 1 ticket.

  • Important: You must use the name as it appears on your ID. Digital tickets must be exchanged for physical ones at the counter 30 minutes before showtime. You cannot delegate the exchange to someone else, as ID verification is required.

On-the-Spot (OTS) Purchase

  • The ticket counter opens 1 hour before the show begins.

  • One ID card is valid for one ticket. For children, a digital or physical copy of the Family Card (Kartu Keluarga) is acceptable.

  • Quota is limited: Each show only allocates 20 tickets for students, 70 for the general public, and 5 for persons with disabilities/companions.

Rules to Remember

To maintain the immersive quality of the show, please follow these guidelines:

  • No Flash Photography: Any light, even from a phone screen, ruins the simulation of the dark night sky.

  • Stay Quiet: Please listen to the narrator and avoid making noise.

  • Children: Kids under 3 years old are free but must sit on their guardian's lap.

  • No Recording: Video recording during the show is strictly forbidden.
