Taiwan Arrival Card Goes Digital in Oct 2025: Step-by-Step Guide for Muslim Visitors

Planning a trip to Taiwan soon? Here’s some news that every traveller — especially Muslim travellers — should take note of. Starting 1 Oct 2025, Taiwan will officially say goodbye to the traditional paper arrival card. Instead, all visitors will need to fill in the Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) online only before entering the country.

This new rule applies to all foreign nationals, including Malaysians, Singaporeans, and other Muslim travellers heading to Taiwan. It also covers Hong Kong and Macao residents with multiple-entry permits, Mainland Chinese tourists with valid permits, and even certain Taiwanese citizens without a household registration or residence certificate.

How it works

The TWAC form must be submitted online via the official website within three days before your arrival. The best part? It’s completely free. Once you’ve filled in your details, you’ll receive a confirmation email — though you don’t actually need to show this at immigration. When the officer scans your passport, the system will automatically pull up your TWAC record.

For Muslim families or groups travelling together, Taiwan has made it even more convenient: one person can submit the form on behalf of up to 16 travellers. That means less paperwork and smoother clearance for everyone, whether you’re coming as a couple, with kids, or on a group tour.

Step-by-step guide to filling out the TWAC form

Here’s a quick guide to make your submission easier:

  1. Go to the official TWAC website: twac.immigration.gov.tw

  2. Choose your preferred language — available in English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, or Indonesian.

  3. Upload a photo of your passport info page (optional but recommended). The system will auto-fill most fields like name, date of birth, and passport number.

  4. Fill in travel details: flight number, intended address in Taiwan (hotel, Airbnb, or host), and duration of stay.

  5. Review and confirm that all the details are correct.

  6. Submit the form. You’ll receive a confirmation email, but you don’t need to present it.

  7. Keep your passport ready at immigration — officers will scan it, and your TWAC data will appear automatically.

HalalZilla tip: If you’re staying at a halal-certified hotel or near a mosque, make sure you have the correct address ready to enter in the “accommodation” section. This helps avoid delays during submission.

Traveller-friendly features

To make things even easier, the TWAC site supports multiple languages and is mobile-friendly. Forgot to fill it in? Don’t panic. QR codes linking directly to the TWAC site will be displayed on flights, at airports, and at seaports. Travellers without mobile phones will even find devices available at Taoyuan International Airport to complete the form on the spot. Paper cards will only be given out in exceptional cases.

Why this matters for Muslim travellers

For Muslim travellers, time saved at immigration means more time to actually explore Taiwan. Imagine landing at Taoyuan International Airport and breezing through clearance — you’ll have more time to check in, rest, or head straight out to hunt for halal food spots in Taipei or visit nearby mosques such as the Taipei Grand Mosque.

If you’re travelling with kids or elderly parents, the ability for one person to fill in forms for the whole family also means fewer headaches after a long flight. Pair that with Taiwan’s growing number of halal-certified eateries, prayer spaces at major attractions, and Muslim-friendly facilities, and your arrival experience just got a whole lot smoother.

The bigger picture

This digital shift is part of Taiwan’s effort to modernise entry procedures, reduce waiting times, and keep up with the growing influx of international visitors. It’s a small but significant step toward making Taiwan a more welcoming destination — one that Muslim travellers can navigate with ease.

So, before you pack your bags and plan your Taiwan itinerary (don’t forget to include halal beef noodles or a visit to the night markets with halal-friendly stalls!), make sure to submit your TWAC online within three days before departure. A little preparation goes a long way in making your Taiwan trip stress-free from the moment you land.
