Not just Boracay...
When people think of Hong Kong Disneyland, the first things that usually come to mind are thrilling rides, parades bursting with colour, and meeting beloved Disney characters. For me, though, my most memorable Disney experience happened not on a rollercoaster but at the dining table.
I was lucky enough to be among the first guests invited for a special food tasting at Wayfinders’ Table, the park’s newest restaurant inspired by the voyaging culture of Disney’s Moana. What made the experience even more meaningful was that the restaurant proudly serves Halal-certified meals, making it a true milestone for Muslim travellers like myself who often find it tricky to navigate food options while exploring theme parks.
Wayfinders’ Table isn’t just another Disney restaurant — it’s a tribute to the spirit of voyaging and community. The space is inspired by the bai houses of Belau (Palau in Micronesia), which are traditionally built as gathering halls where stories are shared, decisions are made, and communities come together.
Inside, every detail reflects Moana’s journey as a wayfinder. The ceiling murals and wall art highlight ancient navigation techniques like reading the stars, studying ocean swells, and observing birds and winds. Even the exterior gable is adorned with a stunning depiction of Motufetū, a celestial navigation icon that connects powerful architecture with the timeless art of storytelling.
Walking in, it didn’t feel like just a quick-service dining spot — it felt like stepping into Moana’s story, brought to life through culture, design, and food.
During the tasting, I got to sample a variety of dishes from the Halal menu — and let’s just say, it was a feast fit for any hungry adventurer.
I started with the Seafood Laksa Soup Noodle, a steaming bowl brimming with shrimp, scallops, squid, and a rich, fragrant broth. To my delight, it even came with a Mickey-shaped egg floating on top — a playful reminder that this was Disney magic meeting Asian comfort food.
Next came the Massaman Prawn Curry with Gramma’s Signature Rice. The curry was beautifully balanced, hearty yet fragrant, with tender prawns and soft potatoes soaking up all the spices. The rice was just as memorable — fluffy and laced with almonds and raisins, adding a hint of sweetness that paired perfectly with the bold curry.
For something more fun, I tried the Voyagers’ Chicken Naan Pizza. This dish was like a little cultural adventure on its own: naan bread topped with spinach, mango chutney, mozzarella, crispy potato pops, and wok-fried vegetables. It came with cucumber yoghurt on the side (refreshing and creamy), plus a marshmallow cookie for that Disney-style whimsy.
And of course, no Disney experience is complete without dessert. The Banana Coconut Fritters stole my heart — golden, crispy, and dusted with cinnamon sugar, made even better when dipped into a silky coconut custard. I paired it with the Preserved Plum Pineapple Soda, which had a tangy, tropical kick and was the perfect way to cool off after a long day in the park.
Here’s the part Muslim travellers will especially love — the entire menu at Wayfinders’ Table is Halal-certified. That means you can enjoy every dish on offer without hesitation, making this one of the most Muslim-friendly dining spots in Hong Kong Disneyland.
The menu is packed with island-inspired flavours, offering everything from comforting classics to adventurous new creations. One of the highlights is the Beef Steak Mee Goreng, wok-tossed with lemongrass, chilli, hoisin sauce, lime, cabbage, bean sprouts, and a touch of sambal for that spicy kick. Another hearty favourite is the Wayfinders’ Roasted Chicken Leg with Gramma’s Signature Rice, served with a fragrant mix of lime, ginger, fish sauce, almonds, and raisins.
Vegetarian travellers aren’t left out either. The Malai Kofta and Lentil Masala is a satisfying plant-based option paired with basmati rice, cashew nuts, and assorted vegetables, while those craving something richer can try the Massaman Prawn Curry with Gramma’s Signature Rice, featuring prawns, potatoes, pineapple, peanuts, and carrots for a sweet and savoury balance.
For something playful and unique, the Voyagers’ Chicken Naan Pizza brings together naan bread, spinach, mango chutney, mozzarella, crispy potato pops, wok-fried vegetables, and cucumber yoghurt — all with a marshmallow cookie on the side. Fans of noodle soups will also be delighted with the Seafood Laksa Soup Noodle, a generous bowl filled with shrimp, scallops, squid, rice noodles, crispy toppings, and even a Mickey-shaped egg.
And of course, no Disney dining experience is complete without dessert and drinks. The signature sweet treat, called Explore the Ocean, features Banana Coconut Fritters dusted with cinnamon sugar, served with creamy coconut custard and desiccated coconut. To quench your thirst, there are refreshing non-alcoholic options like Island Delights and the tangy Preserved Plum Pineapple Soda.
From hearty rice dishes to tropical desserts, the menu at Wayfinders’ Table feels like part of an adventure — one that Muslim travellers can enjoy with peace of mind.
For Muslim travellers, this wasn’t just about food — it was about inclusion. Having a Halal-certified restaurant inside Hong Kong Disneyland means more than convenience; it means being able to share in the full joy of the park without worry or compromise. Families, friends, and solo travellers alike can now enjoy a hearty meal together, no longer needing to pack food or limit their choices.
As someone who has visited theme parks before and had to make do with snacks or vegetarian options, sitting down to a proper Halal meal here felt like a breakthrough moment.
If you’re planning your own adventure at Hong Kong Disneyland, here are a few handy tips for Muslim visitors:
Halal Dining: Besides Wayfinders’ Table, Halal-certified meals are also available at Explorer’s Club Restaurant in Mystic Point. Always look for the Halal logo when ordering.
Prayer Spaces: There isn’t a dedicated prayer room inside the park, but guest services can often help arrange a private space if needed. Alternatively, plan prayer times before or after visiting, as Hong Kong has several mosques — the closest being Kowloon Mosque in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Plan Ahead: Download the official Hong Kong Disneyland app to check restaurant hours, menu updates, and queue times so you can time your meals around prayer and park activities.
Stay Refreshed: Carry a reusable water bottle — Halal or not, Disney days are long and you’ll need to stay hydrated, especially if you’re fasting during special times like Ramadan.
Walking out of Wayfinders’ Table, I felt full — not just from the food, but from the experience itself. I had tasted flavours from across the seas, felt immersed in Disney’s storytelling, and most importantly, I had felt seen as a Muslim traveller.
For anyone planning a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland, make sure to add Wayfinders’ Table to your itinerary. Whether you’re craving hearty curry, playful fusion dishes, or tropical desserts, this restaurant is more than just a dining spot — it’s a destination in itself.
