Not just Boracay...

Cruising is about to get a whole lot more halal! Starting this November, Malaysia will officially launch the world’s first Muslim-friendly cruise, setting sail from Port Klang with a promise to redefine what faith-conscious travel at sea looks like.
Meet the M/V Piano Land, a luxurious vessel that’s making waves not just for its grandeur, but for its heart, designed with Muslim travellers in mind, from halal dining and alcohol-free lounges to dedicated prayer spaces and family-friendly entertainment.

For years, the cruise industry has been dominated by experiences that don’t quite fit every traveller’s lifestyle. Alcohol-heavy menus, limited halal options, and entertainment that doesn’t align with Muslim values often meant that many Muslim families simply skipped cruising altogether.
That’s now changing. The M/V Piano Land, a collaboration between Astro Ocean Cruise and Hwajing Travel & Tours, will be homeported in Port Klang from 29 Nov 2025, marking a major milestone for Malaysia’s push toward becoming a regional hub for Muslim-friendly tourism.
“Piano Land is a proud reflection of Malaysia’s readiness to welcome travellers of all backgrounds with warmth and authenticity,” said Kenny Cheong, Managing Director of Hwajing Travel & Tours.

M/V Piano Land blends luxury cruising with halal values, ensuring comfort without compromise. Here’s what Muslim travellers can expect on board:
100% Halal-certified cuisine featuring international menus and the ship’s signature Hong Kong-style roasted duck.
Alcohol-free beverages include mocktails, juices, and non-alcoholic alternatives throughout the ship.
Dedicated prayer rooms with onboard guidance for prayer times, so you never miss a moment of worship.
Family-friendly entertainment aligned with Muslim values — including kids’ clubs, wellness sessions, and cultural shows.
Trained staff to ensure cultural sensitivity and respect for Muslim guests.
Schedules and itineraries thoughtfully designed around prayer times.
As Sara Amro, Muslim traveller and owner of Halal Expeditions Group, aptly puts it:
“It’s actually much simpler than many think. Halal food, no alcohol, and if halal meat isn’t available, fish or seafood works perfectly.”
The Piano Land isn’t just about faith-conscious amenities, it’s a fully equipped luxury liner that caters to all ages and travel styles.
With 880 cabins spread across 10 decks, the ship can accommodate up to 1,760 passengers. Guests can enjoy spa treatments, wellness workshops, and halal afternoon tea sessions, while children have their own kids’ clubs and fun zones to explore.
At night, unwind with Muslim-friendly entertainment or simply relax on deck as you drift past Malaysia’s stunning coastlines, all without worrying about alcohol or non-halal offerings.

The M/V Piano Land will offer two short yet scenic routes, which are perfect for families or first-time cruisers:
4D3N Route: Port Klang → Penang → Langkawi → Port Klang
3D2N Route: Port Klang ↔️ Penang
Both itineraries combine the best of Malaysia’s heritage and island beauty, giving travellers the freedom to explore historic port cities like George Town and Langkawi, all while returning each night to the comfort of a halal-certified, Muslim-friendly cruise ship.

This launch is more than just a milestone for Malaysia because it’s a symbol of inclusivity in the global travel industry. The Muslim travel market continues to grow rapidly, and yet, few cruise operators have tailored their offerings for this demographic until now.
By setting sail with a fully Muslim-friendly cruise, Malaysia is charting a new course that aligns faith, family, and adventure on the open seas.
So, whether you’re planning a family getaway, a wellness retreat, or simply want to experience something new, Piano Land offers a refreshing alternative where you can travel with peace of mind and plenty of halal-certified indulgence.
