Muslim foodies, make New Zealand your next travel destination now!

For Malaysians travelling through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2, this dream is about to become a reality. The Malaysian government has introduced a trial system that uses Quick Response (QR) codes to expedite immigration processes. This exciting development promises to make the journey smoother and less stressful for travellers.

Starting this month, travellers will notice something different at KLIA Terminals 1 and 2. A total of 40 dedicated lanes equipped with the new QR code system have been set up. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail made the announcement, highlighting the system’s potential to revolutionize immigration checks.
By simply scanning a QR code, travellers can complete their immigration clearance in just 5 to 7 seconds, a significant improvement compared to the 15 to 25 seconds it typically takes with conventional automatic gates. The system is especially aimed at reducing congestion, which often peaks during festive seasons and other busy periods.
The beauty of the QR code system lies in its simplicity and efficiency. Travellers no longer need to hand over their passports during the immigration process—a quick scan of the QR code does the trick. However, passports must still be carried at all times during the journey. This blend of cutting-edge technology and traditional travel requirements ensures both convenience and security.
Travellers familiar with KLIA’s bustling terminals know how frustrating long immigration queues can be, especially during peak hours. The QR code system addresses this issue head-on, offering faster service while enhancing security measures. According to the Home Minister, this initiative not only improves efficiency but also reduces the risk of leakages in the immigration process.

For those who prefer the conventional methods, worry not! The new QR code lanes are an added convenience, not a replacement. Travellers can still opt for manual counters or the existing automatic gates if they feel more comfortable with those options.
The QR code system at KLIA Terminals 1 and 2 is a game-changer for Malaysian travellers. It is a small adjustment with big benefits: quicker immigration checks, reduced congestion, and improved security. Whether travellers are jetting off for business or leisure, this innovation is bound to make their journeys more enjoyable.
