Upin & Ipin Theme Park is Coming to Genting Highlands in 2026

For anyone who grew up glued to Upin & Ipin or is currently raising kids who tune in daily, here comes some heart-warming Malaysian travel news. Malaysia’s favourite animated twins are getting their very own theme park, and it’s heading to Genting Highlands. The project was announced at LC Xpo 2025, a creative festival at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, where Les’ Copaque Production celebrated its 20th anniversary by revealing its most ambitious dream yet. The studio has signed a partnership with King’s Park Management Sdn Bhd, signalling a new chapter not only for animation lovers but also for family tourism in Malaysia.

What makes this project even bigger is its location. The park will be part of King’s Park Genting Highlands, a massive 150-acre next-generation district designed to blend tourism, entertainment, lifestyle, retail, wellness, hotels, residences, and attractions in one integrated hub. It is being shaped as Genting’s future central entertainment and commercial district, complete with shopping boulevards, dining streets, outdoor activities and spaces designed around the cool mountain climate. According to King’s Park, the first phase of retail openings is scheduled for 2026, with hotels, residences, attractions and eventually the Upin & Ipin Theme Park rolling out in stages afterwards. Travellers can expect a phased experience rather than one grand opening, making the destination a long-term evolving attraction.

Details of the theme park itself remain under wraps for now, and there is still no official opening date. However, the creators are promising an immersive world inspired by Upin & Ipin’s storytelling, where visitors can walk into the twins’ beloved universe rather than just watch it on screen. The intention is to capture everything fans love about Malay kampung life, humour, simple values, and Malaysian childhood nostalgia and transform it into real-world play spaces. For Muslim families, that cultural foundation is especially meaningful, because Upin & Ipin has long portrayed Malay-Muslim family identity, Ramadan traditions, village food moments and themes centred on kindness, faith and community.

That means the theme park is positioned to naturally become a Muslim-friendly space that aligns with Malaysian family culture, especially since Genting is already known for halal food availability, prayer facilities in major attractions, and hotels that cater comfortably to Muslim travellers. Families planning weekend escapes, school breaks or multi-generation trips will likely find the destination easy and familiar. The mountain climate also works beautifully for modest-friendly travel, outdoor play and relaxed sightseeing without the heat.

What the creators say

Les’ Copaque founder and managing director Datuk Burhanuddin Md Radzi shared that the franchise began as a small dream in 2005 and has since grown beyond anything the studio imagined. To him, the theme park marks a turning point, one where fans don’t just watch Upin & Ipin, but step directly into their universe. Darren Yang, director of King’s Park Management, called the collaboration an honour, saying it represents Malaysian creativity on a global level and that the upcoming attractions aim to reflect that spirit.

A Muslim-friendly family destination

For Malaysia and Southeast Asia, this is a feel-good alignment of culture, tourism and storytelling, a homegrown animation evolving into a physical destination that families can claim as their own. The Upin & Ipin Theme Park is set to anchor a much larger tourism ecosystem that continues opening from 2026 onward, shaping Genting Highlands into a new kind of family-friendly playground. When the gates finally open, there’s little doubt that Muslim travellers, from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and beyond, will be lining up to bring their kids into a world they already love.
