Scoot’s inaugural flight, TR710, made a grand entrance at Vienna International Airport with a ceremonial water cannon salute — a classic aviation welcome! The arrival marked a significant milestone, with Scoot becoming the only airline currently offering direct flights between Singapore and Vienna.
To make things extra special, passengers were treated to Austria-themed goodies, such as handmade chocolates and stylish paper fans inspired by Viennese heritage. For those lucky enough to be on board, the experience was topped off with live classical music performed by Singapore’s own T’ang Quartet — both in-flight and on the return journey. Talk about setting the mood for Vienna!

Vienna is more than just beautiful—it’s a city that feeds the soul. Walking its cobblestone streets feels like stepping into a classical music composition. From Mozart to Strauss, the city is steeped in musical history. Must-visit destinations include the Vienna State Opera, the grand Ringstrasse, and palatial wonders such as Schönbrunn Palace and the Hofburg.
For Muslim travellers, Vienna has slowly but surely grown more welcoming. There are several halal restaurants around the city, with popular options like Kent Restaurant offering hearty Turkish cuisine, and Naschmarkt featuring Middle Eastern food stalls that cater to various dietary needs.
The city is also home to mosques and Islamic centres, with the most prominent being the Islamic Centre of Vienna, known for its beautiful architecture and welcoming atmosphere. Travellers can easily find prayer facilities, and many larger public areas are equipped with clean and quiet corners suitable for performing salah.
No trip to Vienna is complete without a visit to one of its famous coffeehouses. These charming spots are steeped in tradition and provide the perfect setting to relax after a day of sightseeing. Muslim travellers might want to check for alcohol-free dessert options, such as the famous Sachertorte or Apfelstrudel — many cafés are happy to share ingredients or offer alternatives.

One of the biggest perks of flying into Vienna? It’s a perfect launchpad for a wider European journey. The city is just 50km from Bratislava, Slovakia — an easy day trip by train or boat. Within a few hours’ drive, travellers can explore other stunning cities like Budapest, Prague, or even head south to discover Croatia or Slovenia.
Many of these Central European destinations have growing Muslim-friendly travel scenes, with halal eateries, prayer facilities, and historical Islamic sites that add cultural depth to any itinerary.
For example:
Budapest features the Gül Baba Tomb, a significant Ottoman site.
Prague has halal restaurants and hosts a small but active Muslim community.
Ljubljana, Slovenia, is known for its serene landscapes and inclusive vibe — perfect for Muslim couples or families seeking calm and beauty.
Flights between Singapore and Vienna are operated using Scoot’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which boasts 329 seats split between Economy and ScootPlus. These jets are known for being spacious and fuel-efficient, making them ideal for long-haul travel.
There are three flights weekly:
