Cappadocia is otherworldly, with its unique fairy chimneys and kaleidoscopic display of hot air balloons wafting in the air. This UNESCO World Heritage Site will host Turkey’s first-ever hot air balloon festival. The Cappadocia International Hot-Air Balloon Festival is set for five days from 3 to 7 July and will be held in the central Nevşehir province.
Organized by the Ürgüp Municipality, the event will see some 150 hot air balloons take six different flights. 20 balloons of various shapes from almost a dozen countries will also take to the skies.
Tourists can enjoy a birds-eye aerial view of the historical sites from these hot air balloons. The vantage point from above allows them to marvel at the breathtaking valleys, underground cities and houses carved into rock. Another highlight of this festival includes the night glow event, where balloons will be inflated and lit up in sync with rhythmic music.
If you’re in Turkey the next few days, don’t miss the debut of this hot air balloon festival in Cappadocia.
