What else can you do in the Maldives aside from soaking in the ambience of your overwater villa?

Meguro River is an absolute must-visit when you're in Tokyo during sakura season!
As winter's chill fades away and spring begins to bloom, the excitement for one of Tokyo's most magical sights builds up: the Nakameguro Cherry Blossom Festival. The cityscape transforms into a dreamlike panorama of soft pink blossoms, painting the streets in hues of ethereal beauty. Whether it’s your first time in Japan or you're a frequent traveler, the charm of Nakameguro’s sakura is an experience you won't want to miss.

Nakameguro is a trendy, vibrant district in Tokyo that takes center stage every spring. During the season, the streets come alive with the delicate fragrance of flowers and a festive atmosphere.
The Meguro River is the heart of the action. Imagine towering cherry trees lining the riverbanks for miles, their branches heavy with Somei-yoshino blossoms that drape gracefully over the water. It creates a stunning "natural tunnel" effect that is perfect for photos. You’ll also spot "weeping" cherry blossoms (Shidarezakura), which add an extra layer of elegance to the landscape with their cascading pink branches.

The magic doesn't stop when the sun goes down! In fact, Nakameguro is even more enchanting at night. As evening falls, the pink lanterns along the river are lit, casting a warm, soft glow onto the blossoms.
The Night Cherry Blossom Festival creates a romantic and dreamlike ambiance. Strolling along the riverbank under this gentle illumination is a serene and magical experience—definitely one of the most unforgettable night views in all of Tokyo.

Timing is everything! In Tokyo, cherry blossoms typically peak from late March to early April. For 2026, the sakura are expected to start blooming around March 22, with the "Full Bloom" (peak) predicted for March 29.
Since the blossoms only stay at their peak for about a week, we recommend keeping an eye on the official Japan Weather Association updates to time your visit perfectly!

Nakameguro is very easy to access via Tokyo's efficient train system:
Via JR Meguro Station: Located on the Yamanote Line, it connects directly to major hubs like Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Tokyo Station.
Via Nakameguro Station: You can take the Hibiya Line or the Tokyu Toyoko Line. The station is just a 2-minute walk from the best viewing spots along the river.

A festival isn't complete without the food! Here’s what you shouldn't miss:
Sakura-Themed Snacks: Try the pink sparkling wine (often served with a whole sakura flower!), sakura mochi, or pink-hued sweets from the street stalls.
Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo: This is one of the biggest and most beautiful Starbucks in the world! Located right by the river, you can enjoy panoramic views of the blooming trees from their outdoor terrace while sipping a craft coffee.
Local Izakayas: After your walk, head to a local Izakaya (Japanese pub) for a delicious dinner and a taste of the neighborhood's trendy nightlife.
