At first, you might feel a bit hesitant: "What about the food? Is there a place to pray? Is it okay to wear a hijab at the beach?" Relax! As a fellow Muslim who just returned from a getaway there, I’m here to spill the tea—Bali has transformed into a super inclusive destination. Curious how you can keep "vibing" with the tropical atmosphere without a single worry? Let’s dive into my exciting journey!
Choosing the right time is key to maximizing your vacation.
High Season (July - August & December): Perfect if you love a festive crowd and crystal-clear skies, though flight and hotel prices tend to skyrocket.
Shoulder Season (April - June & September - October): My personal secret! The weather is fantastic, prices are friendlier, and you won’t have to push through massive crowds.
Low Season (January - March): The ultimate choice for budget hunters since prices drop drastically, but keep an umbrella handy as it’s the rainy season!
Soak Up the Peace in Ubud
Ubud is Bali’s artistic soul. Spend your morning at the Puri Lukisan Museum to see masterpieces by local and international artists, located just a stone's throw from the Royal Palace. Don’t forget to hit the Ubud Art Market for some gorgeous handmade crafts. Before heading back to your hotel, stop by Petulu Village at sunset to see thousands of white herons fly back to their nests. It’s absolutely magical!
Escape the beach heat and head to the highlands. In Bedugul, you’ll feel the serenity of a lush farming village. Snap an iconic photo with Lake Beratan in the background or visit the refreshing Gitgit Waterfall before continuing your journey to the North coast, like Lovina Beach or Singaraja. The crisp, cool air is an instant "refresh" for your mind.
Adrenaline junkies, this one is for you! Try white water rafting at Telaga Waja, Karangasem. Don't worry if you’re a beginner; professional guides are there to keep you safe. You’ll drift past terraced rice fields and tropical forests. The journey ends at a dam and is topped off with a delicious Halal buffet lunch featuring traditional Indonesian cuisine.
Want to feel the African savannah in the middle of Bali? Head to Bali Safari & Marine Park at night. You’ll hop on a special tram to interact with 60 wildlife species, from tigers to binturongs. Afterward, enjoy a Halal BBQ dinner accompanied by a spectacular fire dance under the stars. It’s a family favorite!
Channel your inner squirrel at the Bedugul Botanical Gardens. At Bali Treetop Adventure Park, you’ll be geared up with harnesses to conquer nine adventure circuits from tree to tree. Once you’re done working up a sweat, head over to the lakeside for some Halal food with a serene view of the legendary Ulun Danu Temple.
You don’t have to go all the way to Lovina for dolphins! In the South, you can join a Bali Dolphin Cruise. You’ll be whisked away on a high-speed boat toward Nusa Dua and Uluwatu waters to see these friendly creatures playing in their natural habitat. Imagine them jumping gracefully as the sun slowly sets over the eastern horizon—pure bliss!
Nasi Campur is the true soul of Balinese food. One plate usually gets you fluffy rice, ayam betutu, sate lilit (minced satay), sambal matah, fried peanuts, and urap (veggie salad).
Warung Wardani (Denpasar): A "legend" for Halal seekers. The menu is varied, and their sate lilit is the champion!
Nasi Ayam Kedewatan Ibu Mangku (Seminyak): For the spice lovers—this is a must! Their spicy shredded chicken will have you coming back for seconds.
Warung Nasi Ayam Ibu Oki (Nusa Dua): Famous for their rich gravy served separately. Pro tip: mix the sate lilit with the peanuts on your plate for an amazing sensation!
Tender chicken infused with "Base Genep" (Balinese spices) is the hallmark of Ayam Betutu.
Ayam Betutu Pak Man (Tuban): The trendiest spot near the airport. The lemongrass and turmeric aromas are incredibly appetizing.
Ayam Betutu Men Tempeh (Gilimanuk): If you're entering Bali by land from the ferry, don't miss this. It’s spicy, savory, and a perfect start to your holiday.
Warung Liku (Kuta): A modest but high-quality spot. It's one of the best "bang for your buck" Betutu experiences in town.
Nasi Tempong serves up rice, tofu, tempe, salted fish, and boiled veggies. The secret? The "Tempong" (slap) sambal is fiercely spicy!
Nasi Tempong Indra: So popular that even celebrities frequent this place. The restaurant is spacious but almost always packed with spice hunters.
Warung Pink Tempong: A hit among influencers. The quality here will make your tongue tingle in the best way possible.
Ayam Tempong Ibu Sri (Kuta): Very easy for tourists to find. Prices are affordable and the sambal is legendary.
Even with temples everywhere, Bali has some iconic and comfortable mosques for your prayers:
Ibn Battuta Mosque: Located in the Puja Mandala complex in Nusa Dua, this mosque stands right next to a temple, a church, and a cathedral—a world-renowned symbol of tolerance. It features a golden yellow exterior and a prism-shaped roof.
Sudirman Grand Mosque: Found within the Kodam Udayana military complex in Denpasar, this is one of the largest in Bali. Its unique "wall-less" design provides amazing natural ventilation, keeping you cool during prayer.
Ar-Rahmat Mosque: If you're in Kuta, this mosque is super strategic, located across from Central Park Kuta. You'll meet Muslims from all over the world here, and there are plenty of Halal food stalls right outside!

Grand Zuri Hotel Kuta: A modern hotel that truly understands Muslim needs. Rooms are spacious, equipped with Qibla pointers, and prayer mats. Their Halal breakfast spread is fantastic.
The 101 Oasis Lagoon, Sanur: Offers a peaceful vibe with a beautiful lagoon pool. They have a female-only pool area, a clean prayer room, and Qibla pointers in the rooms.
Bhuwana Ubud Hotel: A paradise for nature seekers. They have an organic garden, serve Halal and vegetarian food, and offer meditation/yoga areas. Perfect for a family healing session!
